Special Rules for British Columbia Statutory Holidays 2025
- Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and Boxing Day are not statutory holidays in British Columbia.
- If the statutory holiday falls on an employee’s day off, the employer is not required to give another day off.
- An employer may for one or more employees at a workplace substitute another day off for a statutory holiday if the employer and the employee or a majority of those employees, as the case may be, agree to the substitution.
- If Employees work on a statutory holiday, they get time-and-a-half plus an average day’s pay.
