Special Rules for Saskatchewan Statutory Holidays 2023

  • New Year’s Day, Canada Day, Christmas Day or Remembrance Day, when fall on a Sunday, the following Monday is observed as a public holiday.
  • When a public holiday falls on a Saturday, it is not observed on a different day.
  • Employees who work on a public holiday get premium pay for each hour worked, plus either public holiday pay or a day off at regular pay within a four-week period during which the public holiday occurs.
  • The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation , will be observed on September 30. This is a new statutory holiday for employees in federally regulated workplaces or those who have a collective bargaining agreement that identifies they will observe federal statutory holidays. The day is not a statutory holiday in Saskatchewan for employees who are not federally regulated.
